Bangkok is renowned for its abundance of spa and beauty salons all over, ideal for pampering weekend indulgence. Hugs x Kisses offers just that—a boutique luxe salon with expertise in nail art, facials and eyelash extensions. Nestled in the trendy, upmarket Sukhumvit 26, this haven is frequented by many tourists and long-time customers since its debut three years ago. Cha Siu Papers’ Faye Bradley and guest, Vivian Wong visited Hugs x Kisses to experience the full manicure-pedicure package and eyelash treatment during a weekend visit to Bangkok.
The space has a bohemian vibe to it with its subtle tropical-print pillows and cosy furniture, yet withholds a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Situated in the chic neighbourhood of Sukhumvit 26—a community of luxury residences, fresh bakeries and coffee shops, and decadent dining—Hugs x Kisses is bang in the middle of all things indulgent. Public transport and taxis are easily accessible from the boutique.
Hugs x Kisses
The family-owned boutique was founded three years ago and is now run by nine specialists spaced between the two salons (nail bar and facial/eyelash rooms), both within close proximity (a couple of meters) of each other. Initially starting out as a nail salon, the wellness property expanded its menu by sending out its staff to master more treatments before the facials and eyelash therapies were launched. Each experience during your stay is curated and personalised accordingly—the minimalist-yet-unique nail art is sure to make a subtle statement to your outfits.
Upon entering the salon, we were greeted with a warm welcome and a short tour of the salons. I sat in the facial treatment room, where I was offered a menu of complimentary drinks, from hot chocolate to pink fizz lemonade—a lovely way to start the treatment.
I tried the gel manicure and pedicure, both with nail art. Hugs x Kisses is known for its wide range of designs and specialist advice on colour matching, so I asked for the recommendations. After going through the hand-picked options, I narrowed it down to something cute, yet simple—a marble-blue design with a little hand-illustrated penguin for my hands. It was difficult as I really wanted a Christmas design but it was a bit too late for that—be sure to check out the designs though (think cheeky Santa’s and peekaboo reindeers). For my pedicure, I chose an abstract, geometric design which is something I’ve also never tried before. It was so impressive watching the manicurists—and artists—be able to draw with such detail and so immaculately. The treatments were followed by a scrub and moisturising soak to restore hydration to my arms and legs.
Vivian tried the eyelash extensions, followed by a festive manicure-pedicure, ready for the New Year. The lashes looked so natural yet lively, leaving no irritation or discomfort—something that many are left feeling after visiting less credible salons. She was given a thorough overview of how to take care of the lashes post-treatments, and a dry mascara wand to maintain the curls.
Hospitable service, a clean environment, and personalised designs describes our experience at Hugs x Kisses Nail Salon. This boutique feels authentic and accommodating from the moment you step in and is a great place to pamper with friends, family or solo, whether a tourist or local.
